"SHARQ TARONALARI" INTERNATIONAL MUSIC FESTIVAL

The international music festival "Shark Taronalari" was founded aimed at popularization of the best achievements of national music, preserving and development of national music traditions, upbringing feeling of love to art in the young generation and further development of the international creative relations, glorifying the ideas of the peace, friendship, mutual understanding, the further strengthening of mutual cultural and spiritual cooperation.
The festival is carried out once in 2 years (August, 24-31) in Samarkand. Within the framework of festival program the following events are carried out:
• Best Performance of national songs Contest;
• Scientific and creative conference;
• The Gala-Concert.
The delegation up to 6 person from each country can participate in the festival. The Organizational Committee covers all costs related to the stay of delegation in Republic of Uzbekistan.
It is allowed to participate up to 3 participants at their own expense.
Participants of festival submit the musical program to Organizational Committee in specified dates. Duration of the program should not exceed 30 minutes and can include the following directions:
1. Folk music;
2. Traditional classical music;
3. Modern music, including variety compositions.
Professional and amateur creative collectives and soloists can also take part in the competition.
On the 1st festival held in 1997, representatives from 34 countries took part, including Grand-Prix winners - Simara Imanova (Azerbaijan), 1st place - Munozhat Yulchieva (Uzbekistan), Shannu Khurana (India).
On the 2nd festival held in 1999, representatives from as many as 36 countries took part: Nasiba Sattarova (Uzbekistan) became the winner of Gran-Prix, and 1-st place was shared between Yun Kong Son (Korea) and Muhammad Omon (Saudi Arabia).
On the 3rd festival held in 2001 as many as 257 performers from 32 states took part, 1st place was shared between performers from Azerbaijan - Olim Kasumov, and Nabidzhon Ibrohimov, Sohibdzhon Niyazov - from Uzbekistan. The Special prize "UNESCO" was awarded to "Altai" (Russia) and "Instrumentalists" (Kyrgizstan).
On IV festival "Shark taronalari" 2003 285 performers from 34 countries took part. Grand-Ensemble Uranhay was awarded at festival from Republic Tyva (Russia). 1st place was shared between Dilnura Mirzakulova (Uzbekiston) and Fazel Dzhamshidi (Iran), 2nd place was reached by Nabizade from Azerbaijan and Tadzhik singer Ozoda Ashurova, 3rd place was gained by national music ensembles from Afghanistan and Bangladesh. Uzbek musicians Abdulhashimu Ismailovu, and Israeli performer Novel Kehmanu and the music ensemble from India were awarded special prizes by UNESCO.
On V festival “Shark Taronalari” held in 2005, representatives from more than 50 countries from 5 continents: Asia, Africa, America, Australia and Europe took part.
1st place was divided by performers from Republic of Uzbekistan and Azerbaijan.
2nd place – Kuwait, Italy and Mongolia;
3rd place – Republic of Korea, Bangladesh and Israel.
The Special prize "UNESCO" was awarded to the musicians from Afghanistan.
On VI festival held in 2007, representatives from as many as 51 countries took part.
Grand prix of competition was awarded to the representatives from Kuwait;
1st place – South Korea;
2nd place – Italy and Egypt;
3rd place – China, Malaysia and Kenya.
The Special prize "UNESCO" was awarded to the musicians from Azerbaijan, Jordan, the Kyrgyz Republic and Uzbekistan.

FOLKLORE FESTIVAL "BOYSUN BAHORI"
Conducted since 2002 in the picturesque Baysunskom region, which public creative activity is called YUNESKO masterpiece cultural íåìàòåðèàëüíîãî heritages mankind.

"NIHOL" PRIZE OF THE PRESIDENT OF THE REPUBLIC UZBEKISTAN FOR THE GIFTED YOUTH
The Republic Prize "Nihol" for gifted youth in the field of art was founded according to Resolutions of the Cabinet Ministers of the Republic of Uzbekistan (#334 August 25 2000). The awarding ceremony is conducted annually in the manner of music concert presentation.

REPUBLIC CONTEST NAMED AFTER M.UZAKOV AND J.SULTANOV
The Republic contest of vocalists named after M.UZAKOV and J.SULTANOV has been conducted since 1997 annually.

REPUBLIC CONTEST ASKIYA
The Republican contest ASKIYA named after Yusufdzhana Shakardzhanova was founded in 1998, and is conducted once in two years.

REPUBLICAN CONTEST OF "ALLA"
The Republic contest of the performers of "Alla" (Lullaby) is conducted once in two years since 1991.

REPUBLIC CONTEST NAMED AFTER M.AHMEDOVA
Conducted annually amongst vocalists since 2002 .

REPUBLICAN CONTEST OF MAKOMISTS
Conducted since 1991 amongst young performers of Uzbek national makam once in two years.

REPUBLIC EXHIBITION OF PEOPLE"S APPLIED ARTS
Conducted since 1993 once in two years.

REPUBLICAN CONTEST OF NAMED AFTER M.KARIYAKUBOVA
Conducted since 1986 once in three years amongst music schools and schools of art.

REPUBLICAN CONTEST NAMED AFTER M.ASHRAFI
Conducted since 1987 once in three years amongst music schools and schools of art.

REPUBLICAN CONTEST AMONGST YOUNG PERFORMERS
Conducted since 1968 once in two years amongst specialized secondary education institutions of music and art.

REPUBLIC CONTEST KANATAHODCEV, CIRCUS ART AND PUPPET THEATRE
Conducted since 1980 once in two years.
