GERMAN CULTURAL CENTER OF UZBEKISTAN "WIEDERGEBURT"
In June of 1990 the German cultural center of Uzbekistan "Wiedergeburt" was set up. Its name meaning "Renaissance" appeared not occasionally -actual possibility to revive in many respects the lost cus-toms, traditions and language of the German people. Today the Center unites and coordinates activities of the German cultural centers in Tashkent, Ferghana, Samarkand, Bukhara and other cities. Organization of the German language courses, various cultural and educational programs, revival of folk festivities with their fun, folk songs and inspiring dances -those are the main directions of the Center activists. Those festivities are interesting not only for the Germans themselves, but for other citizens of multinational Uzbekistan as well. The process of mutual cultural enrichment is ongoing, and now it is traditional that during Navruz and Mustakillik German music is played, national songs and dances are performed. The most important direction of the Center activities is work with children and young people: the German young people organization "Yugendshtern" (star of youth) has been created. This organization is involved in the issues of spare time; it also conducts public, cultural and educational actions, including teaching and training in current technologies and economic programs. Youth theatre-studio, which has played a number of performances based on the works of the world classics and the modern German authors, as well as the youth theatre "lnspiration",is a real pride of the Center. Starting from 2000 the Center annually conducts the Days of German culture in Uzbekistan with participation of all its regional departments. |
