KAZAKH CULTURAL CENTER OF UZBEKISTAN

The first Kurultai of Kazakhs took place in March of 1992, and the same time was created the Kazakh National Cultural Center of Uzbekistan which has be-come the successor of the Kazakh Information Center established in 1989 under the Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Uzbekistan.
The structure of the Center comprises the centers located in Karakalpakstan, Jizak, Navoi, Syrdarya, Tashkent and Khorezm provinces, Tashkent city and Chirchik town.
As of today their functions are quite broad and diverse, and include study of the Kazakh language, cooperation with institutions of higher and secondary professional education with a view to promote the development of teaching the youth their native language, satisfying cultural demands of the Kazakh population and supporting the gifted young people.
There are national ethnographic, folklore, youth en-sembles and pop groups within the cultural centers. Among them the ensembles "Dombyra" and "Daryn", as well as folklore-dancing ensembles. In Bostanlyk district there is the ethnographic museum "Shakhsham".
The Kazakh National Cultural Center of Uzbekistan maintains close relations with the public organizations like the Council of Friendship and Cultural-Educational Rela-tions Societies of Uzbekistan with Foreign Countries, the Assembly of Cultures of Central Asia People. Thanks to cooperation, jubilees of Abai, Jambul, Mukhtar Auezov, Sabit Mukanov, Gabit Musrepov and other prominent people of the Kazakh national culture, literature and art werewidelycelebrated. International competitions of akyns (national singers) "Aitys", national festivals "Altybakan" and "Tusaukeser" are organized on annual basis.
