KYRGHYZ NATIONAL CULTURAL CENTER OF UZBEKISTAN
The first sign among the Kyrghyz national cultural centers was the center in Jizak. It started its activities as inter-provincial center as far back as 1992. Later centers appeared in other provinces, and in May of 1995 there was established the Kyrghyz National Cultural Center of Uzbekistan. At present it unites six provincial centers-in Jizak, Syrclarya, Andijan, Ferghana, Namanghan and Tashkent provinces - places of compact residence of the Kyrghyz people.
Thanks to the centers the Kyrghyz people have opportunities to study comprehensively Kyrghyz folklore and, first of all, its pearl -the epic poem "Manas" which is the common world property. The Kyrghyz National Center managed to arrange presentation of the book "Weeping of Hunter over the Downfalls written by Chinghiz Aitmatov and to organize meeting with the writer in the building of the Republican International Cultural Center with ^erfticipation of all national cultural centers in Tashkent. Here Chinghiz Aitmatov was awarded with the highest reward of Uzbekistan - the order "Buyk khizmatlari uchun". National festivals are organized by the Center in a very interesting way-they are in many respects similar to the Uzbek ones. Among them are Navruz, Orozo-ait, Kurban-ait. The age-old national customs "Beshik-toi" (the celebration of putting the baby to cradle), "Tusho-kesu" (celebration of first steps of the baby) and others are revived anew thanks to the Center and its branches. The Center maintains communications with the historical motherland. Days of Independence of Uzbekis-tan and Kyrghyzstan at all times are celebrated as Uzbek-Kyrghyz friendship days. |
