TATAR PUBLIC CULTURAL AND EDUCATIONAL CENTER OF TASHKENT CITY

Established in 1989 the Tatar Public Cultural and Educational Center of Tashkent sees itself as a succes-sor of cultural and educational activities of the Tatar community in the past as far as its establishment and development are connected with the processes of natio-nal revival of peoples living in the country.
The preservation and development of cultural heritage of the Tatar people, Tatar language, national traditions, customs including folk art, crafts, national and religious festivities, national sports, cuisine - those are the major directions of the Center's program.
The following collectives and public associations such as the Club of Tatar poets and writers, the Association of Tatar women "Ak-Kolfak", the Council of Patriarch, the Tatar and Tatar-Bashkir folklore ensembles "Yashlek", "Yaktoshlar", "Laisen""Bulgar" and "Duslyk" succes-sfully deliver their activities under the Center.
The center's activists annually organize the popular festival "Sabantuy". Harvest and bred festivals are also organized and conducted on the initiative of the Tatar and Russian cultural centers.
The Tatar centers in Jizak, Gulistan, Angren, Yanghi-yul deliver analogues work, and the Tatar-Bashkir -in Bukhara, Kashkadarya, Navoi and Samarkand provinces.
